Simone Utermarck

Senior Director, Sustainable Finance, ICMA

Simone Utermarck is Senior Director, Sustainable Finance at the International Capital Market Association (ICMA). She supports the Principles, serves as Secretary to the Advisory Council and the Global Sustainable Finance Council, and oversees the voluntary Code of Conduct for ESG Ratings and Data Providers. She contributes to several international working groups, including the ASEAN Joint Sustainable Finance Working Group IAP and the UK Transition Finance Council, and is an observer to the Singapore SSFA working groups.

Simone led ICMA’s guidance on Sustainable Blue Economy Bonds (2023), Green, Social & Sustainability Sukuk (2024) and Sustainable Bonds for Nature (2025), and co-coordinates ICMA’s taskforce on Sustainable Finance and FinTech.

She joined ICMA in 2020 and has over 20 years’ international experience across Europe, the US, Asia and the GCC in roles at Thomson Reuters, S&P Global Ratings, Bloomberg, PwC, EY and DaimlerChrysler. She holds a double degree in International Business (DCU and ESB Reutlingen), the International Certificate in Investor Relations and CFA Level I.
