I am a veteran financial crime fighter, initially as a detective (1983-2001) then as a MLRO and fraud investigator. I was lucky enough to learn a great deal from experienced detectives and worked with international law enforcement around the world. In 2008 I blew the whistle against Wachovia Bank, ever since I have been known as the Wachovia whistleblower. I simultaneously think like a customer, a banker, a launderer, a fraudster, a victim and a detective. I use my training and experience to protect customers, shareholders and colleagues, whilst simultaneously frustrating fraudsters and launderers. I look around our industry and I see a lot of enthusiastic, hard-working people, but most of them have not benefitted from any formal or accredited training. Thus, I am now engaged in multiple training projects in order to shift the odds in our favour.
